The Gospel
what is the Good news?
The word "gospel" in the original language means "good news". It is the message of our redemption and reconciliation through Jesus Christ. He is the good news!
In Acts 16:30 a man asked, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” If you would also like to know, read through this page, or watch the video, and contact us if you want to discuss or know more.

What is the Gospel message?
What, or rather who, are we looking for?
People seek many different ways to heaven.
Some think, “I am doing my best… surely God will let me go to heaven. I'm definitely not as bad as that guy.” But how can you know for sure He will let you in?
Others look to religious means, like following the ten commandments, or church membership, baptism, giving your confirmation of faith in matric, donating to the poor, etc. But how can any of these really promise me that I WILL go to heaven when I die?
Many belong to a religion or insist that any and all religions will get you there. You must just be sincere in whatever you believe. How sure are you that this is true?
In 1 John 5:13, the writer explains that it is not what I do that saves me, but in whom we believe that brings this assurance: “I have written these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God."
The Bible simplifies it like this in John 3:36, “He who believes in the Son has eternal life. He who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him." Paul preached that this is the reality and the good news for all people, in Acts 20:21, “testifying to both Jews and Greeks of repentance toward God and of faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.”
simple, but not easy. what now?
1. Acknowledge that you have done things your way, things that God doesn’t want you to do. That is what sin is. Romans 3:23 says “For everyone has sinned and come short of the glory of God.” We are all sinners who need to pay for what we have done wrong, including you. Romans 6:23 explains this transaction: "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." You cannot save yourself by anything you do or abstain from. "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not of yourselves. It is the gift of God, not of works, so that no one should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9. Are you willing to admit that you are a sinner in need of saving?
2. Jesus is your Saviour! God has provided the payment for your sin through His only Son, Jesus Christ's death. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved." John 3:16-17. And the receipt that all your debt has been paid is Jesus' empty gave. This is the proof that everything is paid in full: He lives! He even says so Himself in Revelation 1:18 "I am He who lives, though I was dead. Look! I am alive forevermore. Amen..." Do you believe Him? Do you believe He died to pay for your sins and rose again to prove that you are clear?
3. Cleared to be in a relationship with your Maker. Clear to get to know Him and experience all the blessings that come from being one of His children. Cleared to be with Him forever. "This is eternal life" John 17:3 explains, "that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent." Are you convinced that "...if you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved"? Romans 10:9.
4. God doesn't want you to walk this new road alone. He made a family to help you, to be there for you. He called it church. "By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another." John 13:35. Stemming from the fact that God is love, that He loved us first, and that we are called to emulate that same love, we at Faith Baptist Church strive to (1) spread this good news of Love to as many as possible, and (2) encourage our congregation to pursue love and service towards others. We are a "hospital for sinners, not a hotel for saints". We would love to walk with you. Why don't you join us for a service and come tell us about this life-changing decision you made?
